"Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge" Westwood Studios Reviewed by Jerry Have you found yourself playing Red Alert 2 less and less? Looking for a solution? Well, we've got the answer! Yuri, our favorite telepathic bad-guy, returns in Westwood Studio's "Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge." Westwood has made a real effort to make their latest RA2 expansion more than just a simple add-on. And we feel they have accomplished this goal. Picking up where Red Alert 2 left off, Yuri has resurfaced, this time with his own army. Consisting of mind-controlled infantry, genetically modified mutants and more, Yuri's units continue the uniquely humorous tone that RA2 fans have grown to love. The dozens of new units and structures commanded by Yuri are original and entertaining. Weaker than both the Soviets and Allies, Yuri's strengths definitely lie in his defensive capabilities. From Yuri's Psychic Towers, which automatically mind-control the first 3 enemy units within range, to his Gattling Towers, that fire more rapidly the longer they have a target in range, attacking armies can quickly be torn to shreds. These aren't the only additions, however, as both the Allies and Soviets receive new hardware. For instance, one of the new Allied units, Robot Tanks, are immune to mind-control. The Soviets receive a new structure, the Industrial Complex, which when built, reduces the cost and production time of all vehicles. These are only a few of the new units available to the Allies and Soviets, and are effective in leveling the playing field between the two. All these changes have a significant impact on game play. Old strategies will need to be tossed in favor of new ones. Westwood has really done a stellar job with this game, and you may forget you're only playing an expansion. Yuri's Revenge provides an additional campaign, which although short, is entertaining and what we've come to expect from Westwood's RA2 line. We strongly recommend "Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge" to anyone who enjoyed (or still enjoys) Red Alert 2. For those who haven't, go get a copy Red Alert 2, as well as this expansion. You'll thank us!
