Star Trek Invasion
At first glance Star Trek: Invasion looks very similar to Colony Wars. This is no coincidence since Warthog, the developer of the game, employs the same people who worked on Colony Wars. However, this is not a complaint. ST:I uses both the engrossing gameplay of it’s predecessor with the excellent design of Star Trek spacecraft and the distinctive Star Trek GUI. The missions are realistically adapted from the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine televison series, enhanced with narration by Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn.
ST:I employs a powerful new graphics engine that delivers great visuals. But it’s the AI that really stands out in this game. Multiple AI opponents will cooperatively formulate tactics to fight you, making them more challenging than the more typical than the conventional dummies you face in other games. The player also controls multiple ships, but you really have to multitask to beat the computer. We recommend eating chocolate-covered espresso beans and wearing a wrist brace.
ST:I overcomes one of the major problems with previous Star Trek games, which is boredom. ST:I delivers great action and allows you to shoot lots of stuff. And that’s just the way we like it.
