I loaded “Monopoly Tycoon” with some reservation. I wasn’t sure if this would be another bastardization of a classic game or an enjoyable expansion of a venerable franchise (i.e. “Risk II”). Much to my delight it was the latter. “Monopoly Tycoon” is a real joy to play for everyone that loves building and economic simulations.

It’s described as a strategy sim and that description is right on the money. Through the game, you’re challenged with growing the largest business empire, accumulating the most cash or being elected mayor. You play against a number of computer players or you can play online against other people. The computer AI is a real challenge. At times I believe it was bidding up property just to drain my resources (of course I could just be overly competitive and imagining things). The graphics are a bit cartoonish but that doesn’t inhibit game play. “Monopoly Tycoon” is a solid hit.

I give it a “strong buy”.
