Ground Control is the type of RTS game that could draw a player in for hours of battle. The graphics are simply the best we’ve seen to date. The explosions when you take out an enemy installation or vehicle are awesome. Ground Control puts you in command of squadrons (the number of squads depends upon the mission) of primarily ground based tactical units. The tanks and marines at your disposal pack a hell of a punch. Be careful though. Unlike other games, Ground Control units can suffer friendly fire so you’ll need to align your forces with care. Terrain and lighting are also a factor which actually allows units to hide in the shadows while your enemy moves past you. It’s nice to finally pull off a true ambush. Ground Control provides an excellent chance to put battlefield tactics to use. Flanking and high ground are effective measures to deploy when battling for supremacy. There have been some reported problems with loading and playing the game. We recommend you pay close attention to the system requirements and avoid playing the game on a DVD capable drive.
PlayRage gives Ground Control a STRONG BUY recommendation!
